A Self-Replicating, High-Precision 3D Printer on Kickstarter

(Kickstarter) Jean Le Bouthillier of Quebec, Canada launched his Boots Industries self-replicating, high precision 3D printer on Kickstarter. The Boots Industries BI V2.0 is a delta style 3D printer featuring widely available and self-replicating 3D printed components. All of the designs will be given to the community and the funds will be used to further develop the technology and produce the sold machines. Innovation is at the forefront of the reinforced frame and triple pulley system, allowing for a large build volume and high quality 3D printed pieces.

As of January 13th, there were 193 backers who have pledged $121,461 for the $30,000 goal. Boots Industries has worked out an initial Kickstarter delivery schedule that is reasonable, leaves room for adaptation and won’t exceed the current production capability. If demand increases, they will look at ways to manufacture a greater number of units and add additional pledges.
